(3D modelling of plants and automatic generation of: 2D drawings, Isometric drawings and bill of materials)

Piping Spec Driven operations

The applications of the ESApro Plant Design family share together the centralized data base, which contains thousands of piping component tables compliant with the most popular standards (ASME, DIN, ISO, UNI, BS, BPE etc.). The various programs get their dimensional and descriptive data from the above mentioned data base for the graphic modelling, the bill of materials generation and the computation.

The Spec Manager, shared among the various programs, allows the system supervisor to create the Piping Classes and Branch Tables choosing, among all the typologies and dimensions available in the data base, the subset that fits the design criteria.

The piping specs defined in such way drive and control the user throughout the whole development of the project.

 

Maximum speed and precision in 3D Plant Modelling

ESApro Piping 3D makes the tridimensional plant modelling very fast and guarantees at the same time accuracy in the graphic representation and absolute geometric precision.

  • Powerful tools for the routing of the pipelines.
  • Automatic dressing of the line with pipes and fittings according to the piping class.
  • Absolute precision in the placement of components upon the line by means of suitable functions for hooking on and referring to the snap points of the pipeline or of the already existing components.
  • Fit to fit assembly of components without need of a preexisting line.
  • Possibility of editing the characteristics (ND, class etc.) and the geometry of a pipeline with automatic rebuilding of all components.

 

Thanks to ESApro Piping 3D, even if the user is minimally experienced in the tridimensional environment, soon will become proficient.

Wide parametric Library of Piping Components

The program provides hundreds of parametric graphic functions capable of generating the component 3D model getting the dimensional data from the centralized data base. Besides the traditional steel components, PVC, PTFE, sanitary and Victaulic libraries are provided with the program.

 

Equipment

ESApro Piping 3D, besides having a parametric library of pumps, vessels, heat exchangers and other devices available, is planned for importing user equipment modelled with AutoCAD or with external programs.

 

Supports

Suitable functions allows the insertion into the model of pipe supports withdrawn from a rich library of standards. The program automatically provides:

 

HVAC and Electrical Raceways

These optional modules manage the components related to the venting, heating, air conditioning ducts and to the electrical trays, allowing the creation of an all comprehensive multidisciplinary model.

Routing and fit to fit assembly functions, parallel to the ones for the piping arrangement, make the operations of modeling and path optimization easy, quick and precise.

Steel Structures

By this additional library the plant model may be completed with pipe-racks, basements, ladders, footpaths and the other necessary steel structures.

Wide Customization Possibility

The graphic representation of the components is that universally used in plant engineering. Whenever in need of different or more detailed shapes, the user may create his own 3D objects that, once inserted into the library, will be dealt like as native ESApro components.

Interference Detection

The program detects possible interferences of the piping components within themselves and with equipment, steels, HVAC ducts, cable trays and, in general, whatsoever entity existing inside the operating environment. The interference check may be maintained on line while modeling or carried on later all over the whole plant.

Bill of Materials

A versatile tool enables the operator to define formats for customized bills of whichever complexity. The output may be directed to ASCII, Excel and Access standard file for further processing or for interfacing with other procedures.

 

Automatic Drawing Views

The automatic drawing views, marked out by extreme versatility and very detailed, are one of the ESApro strength spot:

  • Automatic generation of orthographic views and cross sections
  • Aided system for dimensioning the bidimensional views
  • Possibility of creating shaded views that, besides having a strong aesthetical impact, guarantee high definition and readability for very complex drawings also.
  • Automatic updating of drawing views as a consequence of model modifications.

Automatic extraction of Isometric Drawings

Once built the 3D model, a powerful procedure allows to automatically generate all the sketches of the plant, complete with dimensions and bills of materials, and to archive, manage and revise them. By default one sketch per line is created, otherwise, on discretion of the user, lines may be grouped together or split into spools. In the ESApro Isometrics environment all the tools needed for making aesthetical retouching and for inserting notes are available while the link to the model is still maintained.

Rendering and Animations

Modelling operations can be made directly in shade mode, which is a very useful tool for the analysis of particularly crowded areas of the plant.

Furthermore, for presentation purposes, the model may undergo a very sophisticated rendering process in order to get photorealistic effects of strong visual impact, create animations and produce short film cuts.
